The Future Talent Campaign
The surveying industry is facing a critical skills gap, with a recent RICS survey highlighting that 66% of UK respondents reported a shortage of quantity surveyors, and 54% noted a lack of other construction professionals. The ageing workforce, with 30% of surveyors over the age of 50, further exacerbates the issue. Diversity is also lacking, as only 1% of RICS Partners and Directors come from ethnic minority backgrounds, and just 16% of RICS members are women. Despite these challenges, opportunities exist for talented professionals to break barriers and shape a more inclusive future for the industry.
To inspire the next generation of surveyors, especially those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, a free seminar on becoming a Chartered Surveyor will be held on Saturday, 28th September 2024, from 12 PM to 3:30 PM at the African Caribbean Centre in Leicester. This event will provide insights from industry experts, networking opportunities, and a pathway to a rewarding career in surveying. Students, career changers, parents, and educators are all welcome to attend.
